Before you begin your ride.

  • Always let someone know when and where you are going to ride, just in case you run into trouble.
  • Some of the tours very hilly for the inexperienced rider, so don't choose a route that is going to be too long or too difficult for you to finish.
  • Make sure you bring plenty of water/juices with you, especially on hot days.
  • Bring some food with you, depending on the length of the tour, and some are long, carry granola/fruit bars and bananas, they make great snacks when you're riding.
  • Bring extra cash to buy food at the stops along any of the routes.
  • Be prepared for breakdowns. Always carry a spare tube or two, a patch kit and tire pump with the right end to fit your Schrader or Presta valve stem. If your wheels do not have quick releases, make sure you have tools to remove them.
  • Be safe...wear a helmet.
