UCI World Masters Championships - 2009

The 41st UCI (Union Cyclist Internationale) Masters Road (Cycling) World Championships were held in St. Johann, Austria, on August 23 to 27, 2009. Over 1200 masters cyclists from around the world competed in this event which includes a road race and an Individual Time Trial.

I won the Bronze medal in the 20 km Time Trial on August 26, 2009 in the 55-59 year age category in a time of 31.06. Marti Valks – Netherlands was first and Maria Zander – Germany was second. Full results are on the UCI website.

I competed in this event in 2006 at which time I placed 6th.

This year, I won the Women Masters B (age 40+) Ontario Cup Time Trial in Peterborough Ontario on July 12. In that event, I posted the fastest overall women’s masters times (age 30+).

My next race is the provincial time trial championships in Plattsville Ontario (just outside of Kitchener, Ontario) on September 13. This event is 40 km.
