Formed in the early 1970's primarily for road racing, the Thunder Bay Cycling Club has a long history in Thunder Bay. In 1989 the Club was reformed to incorporate all types of cycling. Affiliating itself with the
Ontario Cycling Association in 1995, the Club was incorporated under the laws of Ontario and has an Executive Board of eight members that meet once a month for general business.
Newsletters are distributed to members and a General Meeting is held annually in October along with an Awards Banquet and Social.
There is a full calendar of events for all four sections in the Club. The members consist of varied groups of people of all ages and abilities. A general membership allows participation in all sections of the Club. We encourage everyone to participate in Club events, regardless of their cycling abilities.
The Thunder Bay Cycling Club caters to riders of all skill levels and interests.
If increasing your fitness, practicing group riding skills in a non-competitive format and sharing the camaraderie of similar minded cyclists interests you, then join the TBCC Road Touring group. Short and
long road tours, technically supported and led by skilled tour leaders are available each week. Every year's schedule includes lunches and brunches, local and out-of-town festivals, mountain peak and lake destinations, all served up with scenic terrain, exercise and fun! Give it a try, the more the merrier.
If you are looking for a personal challenge or a competitive riding series, our time trials or our 3-day road race event is for you. Time trials are held Thursday evenings at 6:30. Check the schedule for the location as it changes from week to week. You can compete in your age and gender group, with age groups 19 and under, 20-39, 40-49 and 50 and over. This is a great chance to increase your fitness and speed, while enjoying the outdoors!
Mountain Bike Touring is a great way to meet other riders. Come out and explore off-road trails and dirt roads around Thunder Bay. You can enjoy mountain biking at a relaxed pace!
